Ingredients to make Chicken Dipping Sauce
Let’s start by gathering the ingredients needed to make our chicken dipping sauce recipe. In Chef Speak, this is called the Mise en Place, which translates into Everything in its Place.
Not only does setting your ingredients up ahead of time speed the cooking process, but it also helps ensure you have everything you need to make the dish.
How can I change up the sauce?
Creating your own homemade dipping sauces is easier than you think. Simply use our base recipe and make your favorite additions to satisfy your taste buds or for the specific foods you’re serving.
- Soy sauce adds an umami kick.
- Adding your favorite sauces can easily adjust the flavors. Try adding a little BBQ sauce, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, or honey mustard, to change up the flavor.
- To add some heat try adding Sriracha, sweet chili sauce, spicy ketchup, or your favorite hot sauce. You can also add red pepper flakes or a little cayenne pepper to increase the heat level.
- Add chipotle for a smoky, spicy dipping sauce.
- Wasabi or horseradish can definitely add a zing to the sauce, and also open up your sinuses!
- Simple additions like fresh herbs (cilantro, basil, or mint) or lemon juice can add subtle flavors, and the spices can easily be adjusted to change the flavor profile.
- Add honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar to sweeten up the sauce.
*If you’re not a fan of mayonnaise, you can use sour cream or Greek yogurt to make this versatile dipping sauce.

I made it exactly as written as I often do with a new recipe. I make any adjustments afterwards if needed for my taste. This was a perfect dipping sauce for my Trader Joe’s GF chicken nuggets (which are awesome). My husband loved the flavor, the heat is very mild (I used Siracha). I like heat so for me I would add a bit extra. I would use this for many things including french fries, Zucchini patties etc. Thank you for the recipe!

Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the dipping sauce. It is versatile and its easy to crank up the heat a little if you prefer a hotter sauce.
