A locals guide to traveling in Florida – The Sun Dek Beach House in Boynton Beach.
Traveling has become a passion with me, and savoring the differences of each area has been a true joy for myself and Lisa. My friends at Superior Small Lodging asked me to visit the Sun Dek and give my honest opinion on this sweet little treasure on the Atlantic Coast.
Although it wasn’t exactly beach weather during our stay, we had a wonderful time enjoying the peacefulness of this Coastal paradise.
There was time to walk along the pristine beaches looking for shells. Stopping to breathe in the fresh sea air and just enjoy life.
We try to never spend too much time in our rooms when we vacation, but it’s always nice to have a comfortable space to relax in after a day of taking in the sights, sitting on the beach and eating. It’s a rough life……lol
Our suite had a full kitchen, dining room and a very comfortable living room. With lots of windows and sliding glass doors to let the sunshine in and let us look out on the beautiful setting of the Sun Dek.
The bedroom was light and airy with a very comfortable bed. It really felt more like home than a hotel.
Every morning I went out to the Gazebo for coffee and fresh muffins. There were always other guests or our congenial hosts there to engage in conversation. While we were there, we met people from France and England. You never know who you’re sitting next to, so take the time to smile and say hello.
The view from our back door wasn’t too shabby either! We were steps away from the Intracoastal waterway.
And of course, the beach was right across the street through the enchanted forest.
There are lots of delicious restaurants in town to choose from. Depending upon your favorite cuisine the staff at the Sun Dek can help point you in the right direction. We enjoyed a delightful lunch at Two Georges Waterfront Restaurant, sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather on the Intracoastal.
When we’re on either coast, seafood is always my first choice. We dined at Prime Catch Restaurant one evening and I ordered the Sweet Potato Crusted Grouper. Can you say OMG delicious?
Even when you dine at strip mall in Boynton Beach the sunsets are glorious. We had dinner at Cafe Frankie’s and couldn’t have been happier with the food. They have a very delicious eclectic Italian menu (with mama cooking in the back) and incredible service.
If you do go to Frankie’s make sure to order the Amazing Appetizer, simply called that because it is amazing. A wonton stuffed with sausage, broccoli rabe and served with an aged balsamic reduction….sigh. And make sure to say hello to Frankie, he’s the resident parrot.
So if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, a little out of the way but withing minutes of all the action you can handle, I would definitely recommend the Sun Dek Beach House in Boynton Beach. Even on the busiest days, you’ll still find a lot of the beach empty, the street quiet and life simpler.
You’ll also find Dek the Bear to great you, and you never know where you’ll find Dek, he does like to wander around the property. I’m sure Dek will be happy to pose for a selfie with you, just ask.

Looks like a lovely place to visit. I have a terrible cold right now and a lovely warm destination like this would make me feel so much better.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well Tara, but this is just what the doctor ordered!
