Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 - 4 lbs chuck roast
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4-6 pepperoncini peppers

Instructions

  • Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle the packet of dry ranch seasoning and a packet of au jus gravy mix over the top of the roast.
  • Place the unsalted butter and pepperoncini peppers on top of the seasoned beef roast.
  • Cook on the low heat setting for 8 hours until the roast beef is fork tender. Cook time may vary depending on your slow cooker and the size of the roast.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles and your favorite green vegetable.

Notes

There is no need to add water or broth to the slow cooker. The roast will make enough juice.
*For a deeper, richer flavor, add half a cup of red wine or dark beer to the slow cooker.
For a complete meal, add carrot chunks, pearl onions, and baby potatoes to the slow cooker at the 6-hour mark of the cooking process.  Don't add them too soon or they will be too soft.
